swapping leaf springs

swapping leaf springs

I have access to a 1984 toyota pick up. Would I gain any articulation by swapping the toyota leafs into my 1988 sami???

A bit, but you will need to pull some leafs out and build new spring and pad mounts all round.  I might be easier to go with an RUF (Rear Springs Up Front) and CJ springs in the rear.

why would you have to pull leafs out??? I have 84 fronts that I used with my Sidekick SAS swap, and they are already almost negative arche sitting static, so wouldnt this just make them negative?? I know this question was directed towards a sami, but just wondering.

The springs are likely to be a bit stiff.  The curb weight on an 84 Toyota is around 2800 lbs compared to 1800 for the Sammy.

Any spring will work in any vehicle, if it is to stiff you will simply get a really rough ride.

thought so, I am planning on repacking the front springs with one of the leafs from the rear once i buy those old man emu 2" lift springs. I heard those flex really well, and then my rig will sit even.
