no fire at coil on fuel inj sam
« on: November 17, 2010, 06:25:13 AM »
I am in rochelle ga and have a fuel inj, samuria. Mine will run for a while but the longer it runs, it starts to cut off intermittinly, as it warms up. After a while it will not fire at the coil(as when you have wire pulled out app 1/2 inch it will run that way, but when it shuts off it will not spark jump while tunring starter). After a while it will run again then shut off again. I am getting 12 volts at connector that pulgs into coil from module. Can you help tell me how to tell if this is coil going bad or module, coil does not feel very hot to touch as it is cutting off. PS< runs good until this starts again???? thank you maddog256

You might start by swapping in a known good coil and see if it solves your trouble,
the next part would be the ignition module in the distributor, or ignitor  and those
are more $$, but if you find the problem, call Hawks at 888-SAMURAI and get your
replacement parts, OR you can hit the local auto dismantler and dig thru their junk

It's a distributor issue, not a coil problem... Try replacing it. They have a cam sensor in them and the computer controls spark as well as lighting up the injector in the throttle body. I bet it runs afterwards if you replace the distributor...
