Hi peeps, I am thinking of putting a Reynolds 1.6 8v in my sammy, anyone familar with these engines. he is out of cali, bakersfield I believe. I need bigger tires and more power and speed. I have the 6.5:1 gears, now I need more power. I want to run 36" tires....imput please. I don't want to mess with wiring, he (Reynolds) tells me, I can get 130 hp easy with one of his engines, with all the bells and whistles on it.

Cheers fellow zuksters. >:D

Many years ago I put a Reynold's engine in my first Samurai. The Story is here: http://www.zukiworld.com/month_060101/feature_reynolds_01.htm that and many more great articles can be found in the Gear Guide and Archive section... Anyway, The engine had good power (it is a 1.3 engine with 1.6 power) and has lasted a long time. I would recommend Hugh and Reynold's engines... His shop builds good clean reliable power. The vehicle it is in has 5.8:1 gear set, and 5.89:1 r&p with 35 inch tires and I could hang at 65 mph freeway speeds no problem (passing, exhilaration, hills, etc...) top speed is more than that of course.

Good luck, Eric

Thanks for the imput, yes he as 1.3s, but I am looking at his 1.6 8 V. I chatted with him about his 1.3 originally, thought I would go that route, then Hugh mentioned the 1.6 8v getting 130 hp, so I said why not the more power the better. It is good to know they are reliable engines.

Cheers

I've spoken with Hugh in the past about doing his rework on a 16V, and he seemed to think it would be possible.
