« on: December 19, 2010, 07:38:36 PM »
Hi all! I found the forum for the conversion on my 1.6l 16v. Everyone btw had great info on the types of alts to use. But, no one said where the bracket could be found at. Anyone have a link?

A google search turns up: LowRangeOffRoad, RoadlessGear, TrailTough, eBay, ....
I've bought from all. The kit from Paul at "adventure-off-rd" on eBay has the advantage of plug-and-play wiring, but you can cut and splice the wires yourself.

The CS130 alternator seems to be the most popular these days. It's a more modern, compact design, so it fits the limited Samurai space better, without needing to notch the upper bracket. Be sure to install a separate #6 AWG or larger alternator charge wire from the alternator (+) to the battery. Without a new heavy-gauge charge wire, if you try to re-use the OEM wire, you'll eventually blow the OEM fusible link.  You should simply fold the existing charge wire back into the harness and tape it off, in case you ever want to use it again.
