Alright im pretty new at this and getting ready to start what i think is a pretty big job on my 89 kick. Bought a 91 kick for parts and gonna swap the 3in calmini susp lift and axles with the 512 gears over to the 89. Any pointers on problems to watch for or anything special that may make this a little easier? Also gonna part the 91 out. If anyone needs anything let me know.

Nothing special to watch for, everything is pretty straight forward. It really helps to take pictures if you've never done it before, just to have something to reference.

Before you get started, check your bushings on the 3" kit. If they are damaged go ahead and call Calmini and order you a bushing replacement set... Also, depending on how long the kit has been in use, you may want to go ahead and order you some new shocks and struts...

Was just getting to ask about that. Heard ome struts would fit good on that lift. How do i know what size to get and what kind of shocks would be the best.

I'd check the rear Heim joint carefully too, there is no dust boot on it and it can wear quite quickly. OME are good shocks but I don't recommend running them with the Calmini strut spacers, I tried that but didn't have enough CV travel. You will need to use 1/2" spacers ot flip the top strut mount or you will lose articulation. At the rear you can get very gopod travel but you if you want to maximise it with longer shocks then you need to relocate the top shock mount.
