I have a 1997 Sidekick Sport 1.8L with 217,000 miles. It was giving me some idling issues after it was warm. It would sputter and die (if I didn't feather the gas) while slowing down. It did this to me about 6 months ago and I cleaned the EGR and it ran great again. This time I started it, drove out onto the main road and it would go over 40mph. I heard / felt a bang and it was topping out at 35mph. I brought it home and it wouldn't re-start I cleaned EGR, pulled the plugs (1, 2, 3 all had carbon dust and 4 had some greasy oil residue) I checked the hard to read dipstick and it seemed low. I ended up adding 3 qts. It turned over now, lots of banging and idle was moving on it's own between 1000 and 1400 RPM. I looked underneath and oil was pouring out of somewhere. I shut it off immediately! Any thoughts on this? I also have a 1993 1.6L with 129,000 I just bought that needs an exhaust manifold and fuel pump. Should I just fix this one first? Looking forward to hearing your ideas! Thanks so much for your help. Happy 2011
