Rim / tire swap
« on: January 02, 2011, 06:32:08 PM »
Since the engine on my 1997 Sidekick Sport is shot, does anyone know if I can swap my rims and tires onto a 1993 Sidekick.  The '97 has 215 / 65 / 16 on factory steel wheels.  The '93 has 205 / 70 / 15 on factory "chrome" wheels.  The ones off the '97 are less than a year old and I don't really have the $$ to be putting a ton of cash into this '93!  Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you!  Oh and if anyone is in northeast Ohio or northwest PA and is interested in the '97, let me know.

Should be fiine as I had that option offered to me by a garage for my Vitara. You can google it to get a more certain answer.
A suzuki dealer will also confirm it to you

Well, I called my local Suzuki dealer and they were worthless.  They told me they didn't know, but if the bolt pattern was the same it would.  Wow, genius' there!  The 16's went right onto the 1993 Sidekick JLX.  The 15's fit on the REAR of the 1997 Sidekick Sport, but won't fit around the 97's calipers for anyone's future reference.

No, discs on the front.  The 15's won't fit over them, but mount fine on the rear drums.

The 16" rims off your sport will fit your first generation Kick with no issues. You will gain about 1" of tire height and about 1/2" of width. If you experience a bit of rubbing at full turn/compression (I doubt you will) a mild adjustment to your steering stops will fix that problem... I say go for it...
