The Turbo is Back in the Trucklet  =)

Woo Hoo, the old Kick has her Kick back, and
it's a mixed batch of goods, good news and
bad news, good news is she's running as well
as ever, bad news is I popped the 9 PSI wastegate
while I was testing it's opperation on the new turbo,
so I had to use the Subaru wastegate, and it's only
about 7 PSI  :(  So now I have to go find a 9 PSI
unit to get back where I was.

I went out to the 1/4 mile patch of road and ran
88 MPH thru the lines, about 2 MPH faster than
before, and I still have the bigger injectors to put
in, should be fun, the Poor Man's Dyno says 139
HP now, hmm  I'll do some more tuning and see
what I get up to  ;D

Doesn't a Turbo reduce engine life in the long run?  ???

Any time you increase power, you are going to get
more wear, to a point. How hard does your engine
have to work to move your Trucklet at say 65 MPH ?

How much do you gear down for hills ? with the
increase in power, I still get about 20 MPG so either
the turbo isn't "on" that much, or the increase in power
is offsetting the fuel consumption, I think the turbo is
on a little most the time but not all the way up at 7 or 9
PSI, mostly around 1-5 PSI and helping propel the Trucklet
without a deep foot into the throttle.

Either way I know one thing for sure, I've driven with, and without
and I like the with a whole lot more than the without.

That's awesome, man... What turbo are you using now? And how fast did you do the quarter mile strip of pavement in?

I finished the strip at about 89-90 MPH
This turbo is from a Subaru Turbo Wagon
The problem is I'm estimating the MPH
from 5.83 R&P on 30" tires, the speedo
needle is past the 90 MPH mark way down
where it says MPH  close to the H, so I don't
know for sure, I just take 10 MPH off and
figure from there

I had a friend pace me in a stock Honda last weekend.
Calmini 5.83's w/ 33's produce 70 mph when the speedo is at 65 mph. So on your set up you should be running close to shown speed on the speedo :o Holy poop  :P You were flying in the 1/4 8).
