Steering wheel covers
« on: January 26, 2011, 09:09:59 PM »
I don't know about you guys but my steering wheel feels cheap as hell.  The top section of the plastic is really flexible around the steel structure, what type of steering wheel covers are good and do not slip?

Personally I cannot stand steering wheel covers but the its even worse when the steering wheel feels like it is bending.

It's not like that stock, what has happened is the plastic has broken free.  Mine does the same thing, it's pretty annoying.  Sadly the only fix is a new steering wheel, unless you wanted to cut yours apart and re-glue it.

I have a really nice grey rubberized steering wheel cover on my tow rig, not sure where it came from as it was a present.  The best thing to do is visit your auto parts store and give a few a try.  If you don't like it you can always just take it off.

LowRange OffRoad have Grant wheels and hub adaptors at pretty reasonable prices - they're listed under the Samurai, but both Samurai & Sidekick take the same hub adapter, so it'll fit the Sidekick also.

If you can spare the coin, treat yourself to a Momo - you will not believe the difference it makes to the driving experience - be warned though - the leather wheels do require protection from the sun and the occasional treatment with leather cleaner/conditioner - my first Momo was showing cracks within two years of daily tropical sunshine.

Luckily I live in NW Washington, no worries about sun damage here.  :D

That's what I did and I love it.  I'm also over 6' tall, so the old larger steering wheel was too close to my knees and I don't have tilt steering like I'm used to in my other truck.  The smaller Grant (I think I bought the "Challenger" wheel) works great for me even with 30" tires and no power steering...you get used to strong-arming it all the time.
God put me on earth to accomplish a certain number of things.  Right now I am so far behind, I will never die.

I would get a momo wheel but I do not want to lose the air bag.
