Get stock size shocks or...
« on: February 06, 2011, 07:48:05 AM »
Right now I have my stock shocks in it and my mounts are in the stock locations after SPOA.  I just flipped the spring plates around like a tire rotation to get them to work.   So im wondering if stock lengths will work since it seems to flex ok and I didnt bottem out or top out the shocks yet.  What ya think? stay stock or measure mount to mount when flexed?

Depends on what you intend to do with your rig. If you drive it mostly on the road and will only wheel it lightly you might be fine with your current set up. If you are gonna do much off roading in rocks and drop offs you better drop the shocks and take a few measurements to avoid that OMG moment.

For now though you should sell me one of those Hurricane rims. That way I can have a full set with a spare!

I wheeled with that setup for years, never had any issues.  The only reason I changed was when I swapped to rear springs up front and folding shackles, more for ride then flex.  I still use the spring pads on top of the axle, just with some F250 shock towers.

Ya same here this is my third samurai build and never had issues... I sometiems wheel light, sometimes alittle more hardcore.  I will probally just measure and figure something out.

Well those fun testing rocks were at my old place....  My new place is 50 miles away and no rocks.  But I do have steps!
