I would go with any synthetic motor oil and a top qualtiy filter like the Mobil 1 or K&N.

It's expensive though.

I'm no expert at all...sorry man.  I know that sometimes leaks will develop because synthetic oil molecules are so much smaller and all the same size they can pass through areas where conventional oil couldn't.

I'd just go with generic oil, sans all the additives and crap like that, with a decent oil filter...

If it's been so long since an oil change that you can't remember, then:

1.  I'd change the oil & filter more often.

2.  If the level is still full, then it sounds like the engine is tight enough (no burning or leaking) that it could handle synthetic or at least blend if you want to go that way.

FWIW, I just use crude oil and a filter every 3333 miles.

I would get any API rated 10W-30 oil and almost any filter from any parts store, and change the oil according to the manual. That means, if I recall correctly, around 3000 miles for most of us. More often if you do a lot of off-roading in dusty conditions, stop-and-go driving, towing (not likely, eh?) or other hard service driving. Less often, if you want, if most of your miles are highway driving. Synthetic oil is not worth the money unless the manufacturer requires it or unless you plan to go for extended change intervals, which I would not recommend. I used Pennzoil the last change because that's what I ended up with when I left Wal-mart. On the other hand, my VW tdi diesel requires synthetic, so that's what I use in it.

If it's getting up in mileage, I'd stick with the same brand of oil it's always used.

Don't know about these days, but back when 100K was 'lots 'o miles" changing brands could cause probs.

The Factory recommended oil
change mileage on an 89' Kick
is 7500, yes you read it right
7500  :o

I was shocked, I found a easy
way to keep track of the miles
and change oil soon enough so
it's not too dirty or worn out, I
change at 5000 miles, oil and
filter.

Do your self a favor, and your
checkbook, buy Puralator filters
or Wix/Napa Gold.

use a good Dino Juice, I like the
10-30 or 10-40 Chevron oil from
Costco, it's like $10 a case for the
Chevron Supreme, good oil and
price.
