1988 Sammy-First Time Build Please Help!
« on: February 17, 2011, 11:30:08 AM »
Hey guys,

I just picked up a stock 1988 Samurai for 2k to play around with on my hunting property in OK. I'd like to lift it (preferably bolt on kit cause I've never welded before) and put on some 31 inch tires. Looking around online it seems like a lot of people go with the yj spring over kit. I'd like this project to be relatively inexpensive but I want my sammy to be able to perform! Anyone one have any suggestions? I'm open to any and all suggestions and would appreciate your comments. I'm a total off-road newbie so help me out!

Thanks,

If you go to the Travel and How To Archives (link at the top of the page) you will find lots of Samurai modification articles that will get you started in the right direction.

CJ/RUF is an inexpensive way to raise it.  One set of front CJ springs to the rear and sammy rears up front.
