Anybody ran Pep Boys Futura Scamblers?
« on: February 21, 2011, 08:41:35 PM »
Due to a sale and some store credit, I find myself looking at these: http://www.pepboys.com/catalog/tirecover?pn=WL14HTW954&sz=2357515&lc=TIR

Has anybody run them?  What do you think.

Cheers.

No, I didn't like the way they looked, I got the Dakota ATs and the
MTs, but the MT has changed, it used to be a BFG MT knockoff

Dakota ATs were good tires, they were made by cooper for Pep Boy's

What type of driving do you plan on using them for?  Just road driving or some light duty trail use as well?  Snow/Ice/Mud/Sand?  That should help us be able to toss out random tire recommendations.  :)

The gift certificates and free tire won me over.

They didn't have enough of the scramblers in stock, so I went with the Definity A/T which is a better tire. The cheap scramblers actually had passenger tire sidewalls. Glad I went with Definitys. It is a knock off of the Goodrich A/T, which I am a big fan of.  So for like $380 out of my pocket, I have some nice 235 75 15s.  No rubbing yet. Could foresee the bumper getting in the way.

I can quickly see how this will become a "if you give a mouse a cookie" moment. I guess a little lift will be next...

Try running them at the recommended 23 like it says on the tire placard  ;)

Every tire place I have ever been to puts the tire sidewall
pressure in the tire, never the car makers recommended PSI

The bigger the tire the less air it takes to support the load
