Does anyone know what the stock horsepower rating is
on the 1.6l 16v, and the 8v?

I could be wrong but its about

8v  = 74 ish
16v 90 odd

    The Canadian spec which I believe is the same as US
except California is:

1.6/8v......80hp|removethispart|@5500 rpm
1.6/16v....95hp|removethispart|@6000 rpm

    To give you an idea of what it takes to get 100hp look at the thread "Hi Performance engine glitch" and "Pics of Zaggy's engine". It's what I've been going through and I'm currently |removethispart|@ about 90-100hp |removethispart|@ 5000rpm.
    Also check out "Wildgoody's" website, he has a well thought out turbo 1.6/8v

I'm not sure if the cam is diffrent but I know someone who has an early Sport. The carb was definately different as he had a bit of a nightmare replacing it (with a stock one!). I keep meaning to ask him for his VIN so I can find out the part number.

Edit:
I just spoke to the guy that owns the Sport. It a 1993 model, I'm going to try and get a part number but it's a Spanish built model so I don't hold out much hope. I do remember that it went very well on stock gearing and 33s so I'm sure it was significantly more powerful than my injected 8V.

Would that be a 1.8L engine instead of a 1.6L ?
That would explane the power difference

never had the 1.8 in the kick over here.
the only 1.8 we had was in the baleno car.
