SUMOâ„¢ TWO 1.6 liter 8 valve Head

I have  a sumo 1.3 head on my Weber-carbureted 1.6 8-valve.  The engine is also from AAPoA.  Both have worked flawlessly since July of '02.

(edit)This truck has been my daily driver, so those are not trail miles. (edit)

However, their promised delivery time was terrible (3 months late -- I nearly missed the '02 Melt)  and I have YET to hear from them about the three 1.3 heads and two 1.3 blocks I sent them.

Good product but terrible customer service!

I certainly would like to hear from them about the cores.  Even now, a response  (any response directly to me) from them on the subject would help change my additude towards them concerning customer service.

I assume thats US dollars? Seems like an ok deal but I would want to know what the specs on the cam are, what kind of valve grind. What do they define as porting?
I'm in the automotive business and have seen far tooo many guys get short changed on vague descriptions. Worst thing that can happen is you get a hack job with a mickey duck cam that just won't work with the rest of your vehicle combination.
If it's ok with everyone else why not post your whole combo...tire diameter, gear ratio, is the rest of the engine stock? or do you have headers and other mods?
Where do you want your power increase? I assume low to mid range.
How about more info and we can give you better suggestions.
I don't know about everyone else but I've always found to get the best bang for the buck you need to look at the whole vehicle package.

The Sumo head doesn't looks like an alright deal....

But get the specs on the cam and find out what they define as porting and polishing. I'll go over your stuff and see if there are other alternatives, but you need to get specific about what they are selling you.

Hi Guys
I looked over your specs and looked at your website.
Seems to me you really want mid to low torque for your application. I looked over what I did with my engine.
- Full overhaul w new guides
- Custom multi angle valve grind ( I had a custom 5
angle, get a good min 3 angle)
- Surfaced .020"
- Cleaned, dye checked etc.

$266.00 american equivalent

Add a cam from hawk or calmini 99.00 usd and you've got all your engine can really use in the rpm range you're after and you will save about 100-150.
The stainless valves and stuff are cool but for what you're doing I dont see an advantage. Stick with tried and true, go with a known torquer cam and you'll get closer to what you're looking for and spend less.
