Sammy t-case and toughness!?
« on: June 02, 2004, 09:58:39 AM »
I read this on izook.com: http://www.izook.com/tech/samurai/engine/302swap/302swap.htm

"Then the question of which transfer case  should I use? I had heard through the grapevine of people using the stock Samurai transfer case in 1200 HP mud trucks due to their lightness and with their rare 1.409 high gear (as opposed to 1:1 in most other transfer case’s). So I would give the stock Samurai transfer case a try."

The sammy t-case can realy handle 1200hp???

We are using the Sammy case behind a 1.6 16v, with 4.24 gears in the Sidekick Case and haven't had any issues.  (lots more torque passed through it then stock.)

I'd suggest if you want to put any real power through the Sammy case that you either buy or build a 'bucket' or cradle to reinforce the external case.

You can see our home-made 'bucket' here.
