Site Issues
« on: April 11, 2011, 04:15:12 PM »
Every time I try and log in ( up until now I was always logged in) after the hacking, My virus software ( Kaspersky) says a virus is trying to download to my computer. So far my anti virus program has been able to catch it, but I'm still concerned. Is this happening to anyone else?

Mine did that for a couple of days after the hack attack but I just
kept clicking a box that said this is not an attack site and the program
stopped responding with the warning after a while.

You might have the virus/malware on your system, have you done a full
scan yet? I had 2 infected files that I had to get rid of

I also had 2 viruses that got past my firewall.
I had to take my laptop in and have it "Cleaned" and
upgraded my firewall at the same time.
It was due for it's 50,000 GB overhaul anyway.
But I was still $160.00 Light.

Ecoast is most likely correct. Try cleaning out your cache and history so that your browser is forced to load a fresh page.

I think there is still a Gremlin running loose on ZukiWorld. I just clicked on a topic about oils and was directed to a MYSPACE sign in page. I have never belonged to or ever been to that page.

Maybe it was just a fluke.... but in light of recent problems I think not....

When ever you get "strangeness"  like that I'd recommend a good virus scan. Even if you are running Antivirus software they canslip through. Just because you eat your veggies doesn't mean you cant get a cold. I happen to like Vipre, but you can download Maleware Bytes or SuperAntiSpywareREmover (yes, it is a real product).  I like Vipre mostly because it is updated daily and it really doesn't ask any questions, It just goes ahead and cleans.  Start it before you go to bed or before you head out on the trails to go wheelin - thenit doesn't take any of your time. :)
If you ever need to do a virus scan,
1. google / download Vipre Rescue,
2. reboot your PC,
3. press F8 right before Windows starts to load,
4. choose "Safe Mode"'
5. run the Vipre Rescue file that you just downloaded
6. Let it clean anything it finds.

If anyone has any questions, let me know and I will help.  I own an IT consulting company and viruses piss me off as much as the person that gets them.

Thanks MX5Man, I was having some repeated issues with my virus protection continually popping up telling me every post I logged into here on the Zukiworld site  WAS a virus. I finally went out and purchased a physical copy of the new Kaspersky 2011 and installed it. My old one had expired and I was using a " trial " version, and that seemed to be where the porblem lies.  Now all seems good again. whew!

I find MSE does a pretty good job - in fact - it caught & cleaned all of the problems I might have had with the site.  I've been using it for about a year, and have switched most of my client systems (client as in not servers) to it, moving away from McAfee Enterprise.

I've also used AVG - I used to install that on all my end user systems where the end user was too "thrifty" to pay for something better, but stopped after Microsoft released MSE.

Thanks MX5Man I ran Vipre Rescue today. Took all day but it had finished by the time I got home tonight. Found 12 threats and cleaned 5. There was a Trojan on there and then something was disguised with the name "network essentials". I wasn't having any problems other than a really slow computer lately especially the browser.
