Tires wear and rim combos.
« on: May 28, 2004, 11:16:53 PM »
I am going to get the superswamper tsl radials, 31x9.50x15. I was wondering if anyone knew what the tread life would be on a kick. With about 75% on road and 25% off road driving. Also I am going to get new rims too. I was thinking about 15x7 with a 3.75 inch backspace. Would this setup cause my tires to stick out really far? Thanks Andrew

Shouldn't stick out more than a couple inches... my 33x12.50's on 4" backspaced wheels stick out about 4" on each side.

I'm running 15 x 7's with 3.75" back spacing. Stick out about 1.5" past the wheel wells. You can see the tires out the side mirrors when cruising down the freeway, kinda like it that way.

What size tires are you running now?

Around here you can run with 1 tread
sticking out of the wheel well, this was
told to me by a buddy of mine who is
an X-Cop, now a Fed Police Officer.

He says "that's why I run Boggers,
the first tread is 6 inche's wide"

i'm going to have to buy some flexy flares like heather has on her kick. They look decent and don't cost too much.

I just priced out my rims and tires from 4wheelparts.com and it came to $838!!!! HOLY POO!!! Thats waay too much money. Oh well....will a 9.50 tire fit ok on a wheel with stock backspacing without rubbing on the inside of the wheel well?

I'm running 30X9.5s on the stock rims.  I have some rubbing when turning sharp.
I'd guess the rubbing would be just a bit worse with the 31s.  Good luck!

Hey Speedracer You need to take a trip up to Woodstock.  There is a place up there called Stans tire barn hes got tuns of used wheels.  Last time I was up there steels were 15 a piece.
