16v flywheel with samurai trany
« on: April 22, 2011, 09:21:16 PM »
I was wondering the size difference on a 16v flywheel vs stock samurai   would the 16v flywheel fit inside
I have never look at the flywheel for a 16v but i want to run a bigger and stronger clutch in my samurai.  I have a 16v  swap in it and I'm hard on clutches some times broke the centers out of 2 so far :'( that problem has been fix dam studs for the to bell housing bolts

The 1.6 flywheel is too big for the samurai bellhousing and will rub on it.
Near the bottom of the first page of the linked thread are pics and measurements of samurai and trackick flywheels...

What do you mean?  The bolt circle where it bolts to the crankshaft?  If so, they are the same between a 1.3 and 1.6.

The problem is that the samurai has a stepped flywheel and the trackick doesn't.  So you would have to take the step out of the flywheel.  That may cause some issues.
But I can see how the trackick pressure plate lines up with the samurai flywheel.  I'll try to check on it later and post some pics.

Ok, it doesn't look like you can put a trackick clutch on a samurai flywheel.  The pressure plate holes just barely overhang the outside edge of the samurai flywheel.  Look at the pics...I centered up the trackick pressure plate on the samurai flywheel and you can see the edge of the holes overhanging the flywheel slightly.

Lower gearing to take the load off of the clutch?

might be worth a look

What about the clutch from a 1.3 16V swift GTI engine?

Q; (bold);
are you using performance clutches? or elcheapo's? there are allot of sammy's out there with the 16v and are not physically busting clutch plates. how about torque specs? are you actually using a torque wrench or going "gorilla" on them.
>I do agree with lowering axle gears if necessary too.

Q;(underlined) what does this sentence say? are you breaking bell-housing bolts too?
