Wildgoody suspension Q?
« on: May 24, 2004, 06:05:45 PM »
Hi Wild, been looking back at some posts about your suspension and I gather that you are using 3" strut spacers with stock struts. Wondering if you could help me out. I'm running the OME struts (open length 19&3/4" / 501mm, closed length 12&1/2" / 318mm) and have been offered 2" strut spacers, just wondering if these would be ok to add? Also you talk about Crown Victoria shocks for the rear, don't know that vehicle in Australia but would you have the measurements?

Have you got any further with the CV/front axle assy and A-arms?
Thanks, CJ

I think 2" would be fine, OME struts are about 25mm
longer (1") so it should be equal to mine.

Ford Crown Victoria 98-99 year, you might be able to
find some parts store that can get them, I know there
are some US build cars Down Under (I've been there)
but for price I think the OME rear shocks might be good.

I don't have the open and closed specs for the Crown Vic
shocks, but they are cheep here $35-40/Pair.

You might look at some of the large cars made there
for shocks that are the same, I'll get some specs tomorrow
I need to get up at 5 AM and it's 11:30 now so I'm off to bed.

Remind me if I forget, I do that from time to time.

I don't have the open /closed for the stock struts but OME were telling me that theirs give 40mm more over stock. The guy couldn't confirm if this was 40mm lift or 40mm length. I don't want to give the CV's too hard a time.

I have some stock struts in the garage. I'll try and measure them tonight. I've just moved house so everything is a little disorganised. I'll be interested in the difference myself as I am considering getting some OME struts. I have secured a steel front axle casing now so once I'm a little better organised I shall be fitting the 5.83s and redoing the suspension on my truck. Theres a handy sized wall at the back of the garden too so I can do a before and after ramp test.

Rhinoman, any luck in finding the struts. Would like to know the stock measurements.
