Instrument bulbs
« on: May 28, 2004, 05:19:55 AM »
Does anyone know what size (number) instrument bulbs will fit the instrument cluster of a 94 two door Tracker? The owner's manual gives the number as "9433184" but when I gave this number to the counter person at "Auto-Zone" I was told they didn't have a cross reference chart. I brought in one of my bulbs and bought what looked like the same size but the replacements I bought were a hair too big to fit and I had obtained the smallest ones they had in the store. This particular bulb has no metal base. The contacts are two bent wires that bend over the flat glass base. This bulb looks similar to the tiny push in bulbs used in miniture Christmas lights and in the Mini-Mag flashlight. I can't seem to find and automotive bulbs in this size. ???

I have had problems finding bulbs before and sometime you have to break down and go to the dealer.  :(

The indash lights where climate control and AT is number 74.  I'll get you the instrument cluster lights later on as I don't have them near me right now.

They are push in bulbs similar to Christmas lights.

If you pull out the old bulbs, they should have a faint number printed on them, that's number you go by.

No dice. I pulled out the old bulbs and they are VERY tiny all glass tubes about the size of a single grain of long grain rice. I looked at them with my 10X jeweler's loupe and there was no trace of any number. I've also tried a Google search for automotive bulbs on the Web with no results. Were these bulbs made on this Planet? ???

I'm pretty sure Canadian Tire has all the bulbs...they got hundreds of bulbs for every car I think ever made...

As for colour, the OEM ones are all white also, what they have is some coloured sheaths over them to make them shine that colour.
