Looking for a good onroad/offroad locker. I put a spool locker in my 89' Sidekick, the tire chirps where tolerable with 285/75-15's on it, but when I put 31's on it the noise was unbelievable. People were looking around for a wreck and all they saw was little Suki turning a corner at 5 mph. Any advice would be great. At the end of the day I'm not sure if an Airlocker is within the budget but a man's got to do what a man's got to do.
ARB's are great, and pricey. I ran with one in front for a couple years, just using it when needed made turning on tight trails easy. Properly set up lockers shouldn't cause squealing tires and cost a lot less. If it is not set right it will cause bucking/kick back when turning, and may not unlock properly. A locker in front makes turning hard, and when hubs are locked in on rock can be a PIA.
I am now running ARB's both ends (a very good deal, and a fathers day gift), but if I only had one it would be in front. You have to pay attention to where you run the air line for ARB's as they melt rather easily and w/o air they are an open diff.
