HELP! Axle length
« on: June 16, 2011, 10:04:16 PM »
Well, tonight I decided that since I had a torn boot and the others looked well worn, I was going to refresh my front cv axles on my 91 Tracker.  I took extreme care in keeping each side seperate as I took apart, cleaned and painted, but as 2am rolled around, I went to bring my work inside for the night, and of course mixed up which axle is which. Keep in mind, they are completely dissembled, I am talking about the axle itself.  They look the same, but of course, one is about 1/4" longer than the other.  Does anybody know which is driver and which is passenger?  I know if I guess I am guaranteed to pick wrong.

Passenger side is 23 1/2" fully compressed.  The only Drivers side I could find this evening has a broken axle in it.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for the information, from the above information..and my best guess when I reassembled the axles,  it seems that the Driver's side axle is the longer of the two.
