Samurai Drive Shaft Spacers
« on: June 20, 2011, 07:58:10 PM »
I have a typical SPOA and will soon do a RUF....I was told that I need a 1" spacer for the rear drive shaft, assuming bc of a spoa , and (2) 3/4" spacers for the front drive shaft for the RUF...

I don't have a spacer on the rear drive shaft and it seems to be OK?....

So I guess my dumb sounding question is how do you know when you need a drive shaft spacer? I'm assuming it's not ad simple as " you'll know" because I don't have one now and was told (by a popular vendor) that I should have a 1" rear spacer for my spoa...

You should only have about an inch and a half of spline showing when you push the rubber dust cover all the way back to look.

Verify that you need the spacer before you order one/put it on.  I have seen transfer case mounts destroyed due to the drive shaft being to short because of a spacer, so when the vehicle flexed it smashed the driveshaft into the transfer case.

k.  I just didn't know the "tell tell signs" that I need or don't need one.

1.5" will be my benchmark figure to look for
