I'm not sure how to make the 1.6/8v air cleaner fit in my Samurai without just bolting it up where it finds a place... which may be just fine --

What are some other options?  I looked at some adaptable air filters that just fit on the pipe but when i selected my vehicle i got no results -- surely something exists...

I have this but am going to take it off..... (It's for sale if you want it...)



I bought the hoses and airbox from a 93 Sidekick to install. I will be moving the windshield washer tank forward. This will allow me the room to install the SideKick airbox pretty much inline from the aluminium plenum. The air box will draw air from inside the open fender area facing the firewall.

What Tux has is the best and nicest setup, IMO.
The stock trackick tube and air box doesn't fit real well in a samurai.

Yea I didn't know air intake parts really existed...there r 3 places in shreveport with the pipes, clamps, silicone thingys, rubber air ducts...so that's cool. and if u don't like what's on the shelf then they will bend however u want it

I'll post pics next week of the kick installation.... I think you'll like it. This set up works but water can be a problem. I have another air box off of a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 that I am looking to see if I can adapt to the front of the radiator this winter. I don't have time for the fab work or thought process of this right now.

There again it would have the same water problem if you gave the Sammy a good dunking...... and that could happen!!! 

Well... I was able to remove the above pictured air breather set up today so it will ship out on Monday. I have the SideKick airbox rough mounted and functional. I will be tweaking the mounting later next week if I get a chance. I'll click a couple of photos on Sunday for y'all to take a look at.

Well I spent some time in the garage today and waxed a couple of Vettes and then worked on the airbox some more. I decided to cut away the jack mount. I won't be using it because I have a mount on my rear rollbar for my Hy-Lift jack. I made a brace for the airbox to rest on and secure the bottom down. I ran the intake tube behind the washer tank that I moved forward. I stops in the area below the headlight. I used a 2" 90 CPVC elbow and hose clamped it into the rubber bushing out of the rear of the airbox. I taped the aluminium intake tube into the other end. Water shouldn't be a problem if it should ever reach the aluminium tube because it is perferated to allow the water to run back out. I intentionally mounted the airbox high in case I happen to dive nose 1st into one of those OMG mud holes... The rubber plenium tube I cut about 4" off of it and hose clamped it back on.

Here are a few pics of how it ended up.





One other item I should mention is the P.O. took a die grinder and cut out a portion of the center hood cross brace and sealed the remaing brace with rubber silicone. He did a nice job and from what I have seen does not effect the functionality any. I am including a pic of that too.



Michael I have your stuff boxed up and ready to send. You may have to do this hood mod in order to use the cone style breather. I can't say for sure because I don't have have a stock Sammy to try it on. Unless you have a body lift or lowered motor mounts. If that is a show stopper let me know and I won't send the breather as previously discussed.

What does the silicone under the hood do?

Pictures sometimes help make it come alive... No patent ... I read about it somewhere else and just wanted to pass it along. The silicone helps keep the remaing braces intact to the hood and eliminates any squeeks or rattles.

Do you mind posting a pic or 2 of your air breather setup? I have an idea of how to run mine...just curious what yours looks like. Do you see a problem with running all cpvc over aluminum? One of our vendors has all the cpvc I can use...

I'll shoot a pic of it Wednesday. Most of it is tucked away and it may be hard to see.

I like the aluminium because it is lite and can just kinda lay in place without support need. It is also flexible and can work with you on the bends. CPVC won't do any of that. If I were to use something different my choice would be a rubber radiator hose.

Okay out of the bottom corner is a rubber 2" opening which I have installed a 2" cpvc 90 degree elbow. The other end has about 2' of 2" aluminum Zuk flex hose. This runs all the way up to the area behind the front drivers fender and the radiator header panel. It outlets just below the drivers headlight.



This photo shows the flex pipe snaked along the the drivers fender running behind the airbox and the washer tank. (which I moved forward.



If you look hard in this photo you can see the flex pipe inlet under the front of the washer tank between the radiator overflow tank, This puts the inlet tube right below the drivers headlight. (It's that shiny looking piece.)There isn't much camera room there so the photo isn't the best but hopefully you can get the idea. At some point I might put an 90 degree elbow on it here and run it on out into the radiator opening. Not sure just yet... (the jury is still out on this thought.)



Water is a concern for not doing this.  I know some folks might say run a snorkle but I don't care for the look and hope I don
t ever put my Zuk in such a swimming hole to ever need one.

pretty sweet!  I'm with ya on the snorkel...who wants that sticking out of their vehicle. Snorkels are for four wheelers and side by sides!
