Guys, thanks for the interest. Still haven't herd anything from RRO.
So everyone has kind of over looked an issue I'd like to clear. The 32/36 progressive Weber carb is the correct carb?
Dodge 318 mounts will lower the engine enough for the hood to clear. On the one I did, I used a 2266 on one side and a 2265 on the other side, along with a combo of trackick and samurai block brackets to get the engine to sit level and low enough to clear the hood.
Originally I wanted to use the dodge mounts and I thought I ordered JUST the transmission adapter plate but got motor mounts with the purchase so figured I'd just use the CAD LASER DESIGN GOOBER motor mount and shim.

Besides cutting a junker hood, hacking at the intake to fit over the choke not the plenum, and lifting the body; dodge mounts would be MONEY if they work. I don't know of any other options right now.
How does the fan sit in the shroud? As of now if I want to keep my shroud I can't lower the motor anymore, not that its a huge deal to have it on. From what I gathered setting up the my motor mounts, I can't use the 1.6 brackets with the 1.3 rubber, so if you can remember, what was the combination of samurai and sidekick-ness did you use? Or did you just drill out the 1.6 mounts to fit the 1.3 rubber?
Gary at Petroworks has custom engine mounts that lowers the engine to
fit under the hood, and they swap in 16V engines all the time, give them a call
I was under the impression that the RRO mounts would make everything peachy. If the dodge mounts don't fit I'll give them a call. Any experience on the motor mounts petroworks sells? RRO says something about their competitors motor mounts acting like race car mounts and being quite stiff.
And I was thinking, the 16v head is like an inch and a half taller than the 8v head and I don't exactly know if the hood would clear the valve cover. If I find out that you cant even fit the 16v with the RRO kit I'll all together stop ordering anything from them. The way they market the stuff they fabricate is a little over spoken and "golden" in their eyes, in my eyes its just a form of dishonestly that I'd stay away from. I've ordered a few fabricated things they've built and everything has needed some from of work from me to work. The adapter plate for instance, the hole drilled for the raise was JUST big enough to pound and wedge into place, I've punched bearing into things with much much more ease than that damn raise. The motor mount needed re-drilled to fit the bolts, along with an alternator mount I purchased a while ago. Now I'm turning into a vendor reviewer because of frustration... Sorry.
You could get the smaller square filter element and put that on your Weber. I run that on the GI Jane project w/1.6 and have no clearance problems. I think there is a picture of it in the article that is accessible through the Archive.

I tried thinking of some smaller filter that may make the hood fit, but nothing came up in my or 2 other buddies brains that would make it work. Plus eventually I'd like to get a snorkel. I'll give your profile a look and see what you've done.
