Some recent pics
« on: May 18, 2004, 06:33:09 PM »
I know how everyone likes pics and I had some from this past sunday's wheelin', so I thought I would share them with everyone. These were taken at Westco 4 wheel drive club, near Stahlstown, PA.
Here's the album: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=4217349&uid=842221&members=1

It's basically stock right now and was running in 2wd the whole time due to a bad hub that I discovered on-site. New hubs are on the way as is a Milemarker E3000 winch and my friend and I are going to be welding up some tube bumpers for it. One thing I was very happy with was my new tires! they are new 215-75/15 Timberline A/T's from Dayton and they hooked up very well. I was very impressed by this little rig and it definately earned more respect from me after this trip!
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

Thanks for the welcome! I can't wait till I get this thing modded a little more, but the upgrades seem so expensive! Oh well... Once I get my bumpers built and my winch on, I will be sure to add some new pics of it.

Well, my winch came in today, so as soon as I can get this thing in the shop, I'm going to start bending and welding up my bumpers. Also, I re-built the stock hub and got it working good again, so I have 4x4 again! Can't wait to get back in the woods!

One question though: I would be really happy with 31's on this thing. What kind of lift/trimming do I need to fit them on, while still having room to twist and articulate? Rim size recomendations? Any help is appreciated and I would prefer trimming to lift, but due to my height, I can't sacrifice legroom by moving the floor back much...

31s best fit with a 3" suspension and a 3" body lift with minor trimming on the outer fenders.

I'd think that you'd have a hard time fitting 31s with just a body lift.
Maybe somebody out here can answer that question.

I was thinking about a 2" body lift to avoid having to splice the steering shaft and maybe some coil spacers for now to get another inch until I can piece together longer struts and springs.

On a website some time ago I found info on a 1" budget lift that someone did themselves where they took the front strut mount and flipped it over, then unbolted the lower ball joint from the A-arm and moved it under the A-arm with spacers filling in the original arm location of the ball joint mount. Has anyone else heard of this or done it? run into any problems with the CV boots rubbing?

i have a 2.5 body lift and trimmed about 2" out of the inside of the fenderwell (back) and my 11.5 x 30s still rub when turning into a slightly raised parking lot.  i am guessing that you will really need a sus lift also to get on 31s.  the real problem is the width.

welcome to the board!!  you have alot of work ahead of you, but dont worry, youll love it ;D  its addictive 8)
