Yep, they still build the "Samurai" in India.  They built them in Spain until 2002 as well.
35 years of Samurai ownership, and I still have my very first one. :)

Yep, they still build the "Samurai" in India.  They built them in Spain until 2002 as well.

That would be the Maruti "Gypsy" - you need to be aware that whilst they are Suzuki, they may not be the same spec as the Samurai - for example, we got the Gypsy, looking exactly like the pictures shown, but with a 4 cylinder, 1 litre engine instead of the 1.3.

Transmissions, transfer cases & axles may also be different.

This one lists a 1.3, 16-valve 80-hp engine in its specs.  I believe that all the new Gypsys have the same engine as well.  I remember a gentlemen from India posting some pics of his a few years ago and it had the 1.3 16-valve.

Its the G13BB engine as used in the early Jimny models (the 98 on Jimny not the LJ/SJ Jimny!)
