Just bought a 1989 Tracker.  It is in decent shape expect for the terrible pin striping.  I am sure I am going to get bugged for the pink and red striping all over my Tracker.  I am getting a 2" lift and some 235 tires for it and making steel bumpers.  I need to find an EASY FAST way to get the striping off.  I will be at it for hours and hours with a regular eraser wheel.  I saw this and want to know if anyone has tried it. http://www.mbxit.com/  I can also get a chemical from my vinyl supplier for removing vinyl graphics that I hope will work.  I plan on spray painting it anyways, but just need the pin stripping off.  Oh, and I didn't pay the price that is in the window.

Yep, a hair dryer or heat gun will work.  Got to watch using a heat gun though...you could burn the paint.
I have also pulled the striping off of my Ranger by just letting it sit in direct sunlight on a hot day (my Ranger is black, so that helped too).

heat gun as mentioned will take the bulk of it off, then use a 3m stripe removal tool (spinnng discs)...

goof-off or similar for remaining adhesive...

Thanks for the help.  I guess I will be using a heat gun, eraser wheel, etc. I will try to remember to post pictures of it after I get them off.

I think you should go with slightly more lift and a little larger tire.... Then take it wheeling and gently soften the decals with some nice clay or white slash, maybe even a lil sand. Then once mixed and soften cruise thru the woods stayin to the high side of the ruts along the brush line. (do this for both sides). When you pop the the woods give er a dip in the river.

Then head back ta the camp... open a couple of bottle's of your favorite Black Label beverage from Tennessee and you along with your friends can have an easy peel fest with whatever decal is yet hangin from the sides.

But yeah you could use a heat gun or a blow dryer.... but what fun would that be? 

try using WD-40 as a adheasive remover. I found that little trick out by accident.

I've found a product called Vinyl Off.  I am going to order some.  They claim you can spray old vinyl and wait 15 min. and then it easily scraps off everything.  I spent a bit of time with an eraser wheel and got half the hood done.  I will try this other stuff out and see what happens.  I have used wd-40 before but didn't think it would work well enough through the old decals. I also found a dealer for the MBX tool with eraser wheel but at $450 I think I will try other things.

So figured I show the after pictures of the tracker.  Turns out when I went to register it that it is a 1990 tracker not a 89 like the dealer said.  I tried the eraser wheel in the drill, heat gun and scrapers, a product called Vinyl Off and Rapid Remover.  Each method worked but took quite a bit of time and work.  Finally got fed up and put the 0 degree nozzle in my pressure washer and then it still took about an hour and a half to blast the vinyl off.  Then using the Rapid Remover it took another few hours to spray and scrape off all the left over adhesive.   So now I have all the paint off I will be prepping for painting.  Going to go Olive Drab.  May use the Krylon stuff or order the real army paint from http://www.willysacres.com/ not sure yet.  So it has already cost me about 8hours of my time to get it to this point.  Oh I also have the rubber trim off now too, but took the pictures before I did that.
