Mike, the reason you have an extra o2 is because your 97 is OBD2 which moniters the cat. If you take the cat out you will get a check eng. light with A code p0420. But that won't effect eng. perf. The front o2 sensor gives the rich/lean command.

Yesterday I had a chat with calmini's tech dept. And I asked them about the legality of their headers.

They told me that the calmini header is not legal in California, because of the optical inspection.
And when I asked them if it affects the emissions of the car, they replied that it doesn't affect at all.
Road is... The boring part that joins two mud tracks.

It is correct, the header is a Thorley header minus the carb warm up pipe, that would mount to the exhaust manifold, and will not pass C.A.R.B. without it. Take a look at the Thorley header and you will see what they are talking about.

I have the Hawk header, i like it alot. It deffinetly gave a little more zip. Plus Hawk make them with 3 (i think) different coatings, so you can get the fancy racing ceramic stuff if ya want :D

i just finished installing the calmini header and i have to say throttle respones is improved quite a bit, man i have to say these little 1.6l engines just running off the header can be quite LOUD but i had to go for a rip with just the header HAHAHAHAHHAAH :o ;D :o
