Low Oil Pressure Resolved

Well, the low Oil PSI was a bad/old/loose
oil pump, changed the pump and the PSI
is fine/normal, so given a few days the new
turbo will be making it's way onto the Trucklet
:D  I can't wait to get the Zoom Zoom Zoom
Back, well that's a different Company but you
get the idea
;D

Did you wreck your old turbo? What are you using now?

Well I didn't wreck it, it scattered on it's own.
It was just the bearing, but there are peices
missing out of the compressor wheel, and the
shaft is bent too, must have been quite a wild
ride at 100,000 + RPM when it went, I was at
full boost, roostering all four wheels around a
corner when it let go with a howl, scared me,
I didn't know what it was, until about 3-4 Min
and I realized I had no boost  :(

Ah, that sucks.

But you still didn't answer my question as to what turbo out of what vehicle you're replacing it with :)

When something like that blows at 10krpm, would something go flying down the intake?

Gotta report back as to the performance of that turbo compared to the old one off of a 1.6L Mazda (if I remember correctly). :)

Not if there is an intercooler, the peices
would go into there and stop in the end tanks,
but if there were no intercooler, yes the engine
could ingest some bits and peices  :P

Thats good to hear. Are you running used turbos or are you buying a new one? If you are running used are they pretty reliable and if they are new are they expensive?

I just pickup a used turbo, would cost about $200 to
have it rebuilt, as long as there is no damage, a turbo
can be rebuilt over and over, they sell a "cartrige" that
has new bearings, you them put in your pinwheels and
snail shells and put it back on the vehicle, mine went
from WooHoo to  Awwwwwww  in about 1/2 second, so I
never had a chance to rebuild before it scattered.

I put 20,000 miles on the used turbo, and I suspect the
low oil PSI could have been a factor in it's demise.

Brand New Turbo $$$$$$$$$$$$  I don't know but
I don't think it would be worth the bucks when a good
rebuilt one is as reliable.

So Mike, The Evil Seed is lurking in your brain ayy  ;D
Remember the E-mails over a year ago about this, well
what took you so long ???
