Hey gang,
Buttoning up this 1.6 8v and I'm trying to put the timing belt on.  I know, this thread has been done a million times and search.  Well this is a bit different.  I'm pretty sure I have the timing setup ok, my problem is with this freakin belt that came with my rebuild kit and a question about the tension pulley.  Just need to verify that this IS indeed the wrong belt and I'm not just missing another loop over some other pulley or cog.  Its just the Cam cog, crank cog, and tension pulley right?  IF so this belt is way off and I'll just have it replaced and move on.  Also it seems a bit wide for the crank cog.  Anyone have a pic of how this all looks correctly done?

Also, this tension pulley seems to be a tad bit smaller than the one I pulled off of the motor.  the one I pulled off was a black plastic style outer ring, not the thin metal ring that is installed in the pics (the new one) any input on that?  ok to use, or the wrong one?

looks like I'm about 8 teeth too long. 95 teeth for an 8v timing belt... but what about that pulley?

You may have the belt & tensioner pulley for the 1.3 DOHC there - that engine uses a longer belt and a smaller pulley.

thanks, those will come in handy when I rebuild the stocker 1.3 then!  I figured I just had the wrong parts, easy enough to fix.  Late nights in the garage you start to question yourself on everything...

You have a timing belt for a 1.6 16V trackick engine.  The 16V belts are 1" wide (vs. 3/4" wide for the 8V belts).  The 16Vs also have 103 teeth, vs. the 95 teeth on the 1.6 8V belts.
I was thinking the tensioner pulleys were all the same for the engines though.  As long as the diameter is the same as the old one (no matter how it looks physically), then you should be ok.

I just realised that the part number can be seen on the back of the belt in the second picture - I plugged it in to the EPC and got back SE416 TIMING BELT (4 VALVE).

New parts are being sent from supplier, timing belt, pulley, and valve cover gasket...

I just noticed the DOHC in that first reply, duh.  Oh well, I have a new 16v timing belt and tension pulley if anyone needs one!
