Shrockworks Sidekick/Tracker front bumper interest?
« on: January 04, 2012, 02:35:02 PM »
Just spoke with Jim at Shrockworks and he said that he would build one last batch of the Sidekick/Tracker front bumpers if we could get a group of about 15 people together for a group buy.  The bumper would be $750 powdercoated or $650 plain.  Please email me at altguitar_77|removethispart|@yahoo.com if you are interested.

Might as well post some of my Shrockworks bumper.
1.  Taken during a 3 day camping trip on White Rim Trail in Canyonland National Park, UT
2.  Taken on Hell's Revenge Trail,  Moab UT
3.  Taken on Imogene Pass near Teluride CO
4.  Taken on the Broken Arrow Trail near Sedona AZ
5.  Taken in Rausch Creek Off Road Park  Tremont PA

How about other Shrockwork bumper owners post up your bumper shots.

It appears there is no interest in the bumper.  I thought we'd give it one last try.

I've already tried going in on this before and it didn't work.

One of the vendors said the very same thing, get "X" amount of people, he'll make a batch. That vendor attempt was a couple years ago and nothing ever happened.

Not trying to bad mouth anyone, just saying it didn't work.

I had a couple of the bumpers in the past, it's Very Nice!

If you get to a point where you need one or two more... I'll be interested and I think I have a friend too. ;)

I think the Sidekick guys are even cheaper than the Samurai guys.

Low range attempted to get a list of buyers together but never followed through with the group buy.  I think the main reason for the fallout was Jim at Shrockworks said that he was going to start producing them again anyway so the list fell to the wayside.  After speaking with Jim the other day he said that they decided against making the bumpers again because they are such a slow moving product but would make an exception if we could get 15 people together.  He would start making them with 10 people ready to buy.

Yes, they definitely do not stock anything there.  They have a 3+ month wait for even their normal products.  ??? Not a good way to do business if you ask me.

Please email me at altguitar_77|removethispart|@yahoo.com if you want to be added to the list.  I will need your name, vehicle info (year, make, model, 2dr, 4dr, height of body lift), phone number.  Its too difficult for me to keep track of everyone who wants to be added from the 4 different forums I've posted this on. Thanks.

I have only had 2 people actually email me.  3 others said that they are interested but if I don't have any contact info I will have to assume that only 3 people, including me, are serious.  It takes 10 people to get this started.  Please send me an email to altguitar_77|removethispart|@yahoo.com if you want in.  Send info on your vehicle as well.  I also need help spreading the word.  I have 2 local craiglist ads (both in TX) right now and posted this same thread in Zukiworld, Pirate4x4, and suzukiforums.  Please help spread the word on any site that you feel would be beneficial.  I might take out an Ebay ad as a last resort but was hoping it wouldn't come to that.

It is amazing that a company has gotten so big that making 5-10 bumpers every other year would be that much of a bother. They could label them as special editions and they would sell out as soon as they are completed.

I have his bumper and his sliders on my kick. they are good products but overbuilt in my opinion. It would be awesome if a company would actually build a bumper that is designed for the weight of the vehicle..Steel thickness used on his bumpers rival that which you would see on a full size vehicle  Either way I have had no issues with my SW bumper.

I think the product would sell much more if it was built out of 1/8 and 3/16 and 2/3rds the prices.. However there isn't much out there for options on sidekicks.. It's by far the best looking bumper with Calmini running a close second. Part of SW downfall in selling these is there is not a matching rear bumper. I have contemplated selling mine several times for this very reason but happened to stumble across a marginally matching custom bumper on CL.. So I have a matching set for the most part.

And yes I would agree that a large portion of the Suzuki owners are cheap skates.. the rational of "that cost more than my whole zuk"  is completely missing the point of building a zuk whether for hobby or utilitarian purposes.  If that's your thought process then you have already lost and are missing the whole point of this awesome sport/hobby/obsession...

Good luck and I would counter Jim with what ever number you get....and beg... :'(

I don't have any experience with the SW Trackick bumper, but I have three of SW's front Samurai bumpers.  Just received my latest, a non-winch model, last week.  It will be installed on a stockish tintop I bought for $500.   ;D  I have also installed a 4:1 case and a 1600 8-valve in the tintop.  Pretty good all around DD. 8)

The SW bumpers are definitely stout and have a thicker steel center section than the Samurai frame.  Yes, they could be built of lighter material, but then it would be like the great looking, but lighter duty and more expensive ARB bumper.  Not sure if ARB still markets a Trackick bumper though. ???
