Can someone tell me which switch goes in which hole on the top of the Sammi 5spd trans?  The only way I can tell them apart is one has a female connector and one has a male connector.  I'd like to make sure I have them in the right hold before I get it mounted back up.

Appreciated, but is that the male or female connector switch?  As far as I can see the connector is the only differnce between the two.  I took them out during my rebuild and failed to mark which was where.

I can't remember either.  I kiind thought you wanted a more specific answer.   

Check the firewall connectors The wires feeding the backup lamp switch connector are YEL and RED. The 5GS wires are
LT GRN/RED and BLK.

Right.  The switches are the same, other than the connectors on the end.
Look at the wire colors on the wiring harness side and follow what warbird posted.  Also, as he stated, the reverse light switch is the front one (the one closest to the engine).
The 86-88 samurai switches have the larger round plugs on them.  The 88.5-95 samurais have the smaller oval shaped plugs on them, like in your pic.
