ZUKIWORLD Colorado Adventure
We are planning an adventure to the great state of Colorado this year and would like to invite you along. There will be no formal activities just a place and time for fellow Suzuki enthusiasts to meet up and go wheeling, camping, fishing, etc.. on the trail. Colorado has some wonderful sites to see and things to do and we hope to do as many as possible using a relaxed pace. Below is a loose itinerary and some details that we have so far. Things will evolve more as we get closer to the go date so if you're interested make sure and stay tuned here and send me an email ebewley[at]zukiworld.com to get on the list for more specific updates.

Where - We plan to base camp at Taylor Park Reservoir, Gunnison National Forest, Gunnison, Colorado 81210
When - During the week of August 12th thru 18th 2012 ... Come early or Stay late, it's up to you.
Who - Self-sufficient Suzuki enthusiasts that would like to get together and spend some "quality time" with like minded people
What - During the week that we are there we will be doing trail rides in loops from camp at the Taylor Park Res. Some highlights may include:
  • Tin Cup Pass, Scoffield Pass, Devil's Punch Bowl, Black Bear Pass, etc..
  • Ouray, Montrose, Almont, Gunnison, Salida, Aspen, etc..
  • Old mining sites & Ghost towns
  • Fishing & Gold Panning

This sounds like a great adventure, going to see if I can work it into my Summer schedule.

We've used Ouray as a basecamp a number of time for backcountry exploring in the area. My earliest experiences with wheelin are in the San Juans with my grandfather in his rusted out Willys Wagon.  Some many great places to see and explore.

Beautiful Place!

We stayed in Ouray, a ton of trails right out of town.

Awesome Trip! I'm gonna try to see what's happening for me then.

Man, I'd love to work this out. I lived in Colorado for 12 years, riding and racing motorcycles, and camping out as often as possible. It is truly a beautiful place to be. I hope I can be there. Give me a chance to visit some old friends too.

This killed   :(  me. I wasn't able to take the " Old Monarch Pass " down the eastern side,  down to a half a tank of gas when I got to the trail head, it was gettin dark and snowing lightly. I'm not that adventurous that I'd go that alone at night.  It would have been great fun and insanely mesmerizing on a clear starry night. Nothing can compete with a high altitude view of the night sky, well, unless your an astronaut.  Really need to do this.

I'm going to do my best to make this one. This looks absolutely AWESOME..... If my trip to Kurdistan falls through (looking like it), I am doing this.... I'm thinking of straping the Kayak to the roof of the kick and taking a couple days to drive out  8). If I decide to haul, can I access the camp site with a bone stock Suburban 4x4 hauling a trailer?

I'm in.  I will probably be driving a mildly built Samurai (Open diffs, 30" tires, gearing, winch) up from Oklahoma.  I'll be going for more of the scenic stuff instead of the more scary, cliffhanger trails.  The reason being, my dad will probably come with me and I already scared him pretty good at Moab once, so I don't want to do that again.

Isn't a Samurai really a side by side, street legal ATV anyway?

I've done most of those rides on a dirtbike too and it is AWESOME! Can't wait to get the tracker out on them. The road over Tiincup Pass is a beautiful ride and fairly easy.  One thing I'll have to do is turn up the boost. 11000 feet sucks the power right out of any engine.

Don't forget to add me on the list.  I'll be driving a Samurai all the way from the reddest of red states: Okie-la-homa.

Seen this post....
Zig posted it again as a "Reference" in my Coast to Coast Idea....
I'll can not commit 100% at this time as August is PRIME PIPE BUILDING time and I won't have enough time off to go to
Mohab come Easter this year.
Maybe  i can hook up with the "enlistee's" from Minnesota for the trip over (If they can give me a head start each day for a 87 Sammy with the stock 1.3)
I'll e-mail you if I can make it happen, It looks like my kind of trip !!!!
