Turbo first start (vid)

My youtube page

Sorry about the crappy sound (android)

Was finally able to pick up my exh manifold from the machine shop yesterday.  I still (2nd attemp) ended with a bit of a flange warp even with it clamped tight while welding.  Anyway I had most turbo plumbing already mocked up on the engine and the head re-installed with ARP's waiting on them to finish sanding it down.

Still a ways to go on the details.  Sounds like I need to re-visit my valve lash. Its a couple of days away from a road test. Exhaust not welded to the downpipe.  Snorkel not finished (shorted myself a mandrel bend). Electric boost controller not connected, wastegate and BOV not dialed in.  MS fuel/spark maps need to be tuned up.  Fun stuff... I love it!!

That Sounds/Looks Awesome, Very nice low end turbo. I wish I had the money to play around with my cars this much :P
I'd like a snail turbo or some kind of high rev power for my sammi, but too expensive.
Yours sounds perfect though for that low torque power.

Thanks all.

I cannot believe the power this setup makes now.  Talk about day and night difference!  I first test drove it the other night and couldn't get any video.  I was mainly doing the tuning/tweaking of the air/fuel.

I did a few short runs at 8psi and was very pleased to say the least. Boost was coming on in the upper 2k to 3k rpm range. The position/location of the turbo, BOV, and snorkel pipe really make the turbo sounds pretty loud heh.  It definitely made a few people do a double-take in my neighborhood.

Still some tweaks to make... and and more vids to come!

Just a quick shot from the other night.  I keep kicking myself... the only time I remember to take a video is at night!

We woods rode for about 3 hours Saturday making adjustments. Overall I am very pleased.  It was pretty warm out and we didn't run into any heat issues.  I did swap the 180 t-stat out for a 160 for this test day... just in case.  I reached a max temp of about 180 after some back to back hard acceleration runs.  Not sure how things will play out in the dead of summer.

And no, the boost guage is not accurate ...somehow  ???.  Max boost here is about 5-6psi (via MS)

Awesome. I would love to boost my Sidekick someday. Hell, I'd like to boost any of my cars someday. Cool project.
