Empi carb
« on: March 18, 2012, 07:17:29 AM »
The Samurai I just bought has the Empi carb on it, not really impressed with it as it is running rich, stumbles and the throttle linkage is cobbled up. Does anybody know if the factory throttle cable works on this as the cable on it looks hand made..looks like braided stainless cable and little u-bolts from home depot. The other two Samis I owned had factory carbs and ran just fine. Oh, the intake piping on this is all cobbled together also...will try and post some pictures later.

Upon further inspection it looks like the factory cable has been extended to work via a cobbled up throttle cable bracket from the old carb...oh boy....uploading pictures now.

An Empi is nothing more than a copy of a Webber.
I don't run them (ever) so I cant be much help.
Stands to reason though that a cable conversion for the Webber will work fine on the Empi.
I'd go that rout.
Not sure why your carb is running a stock air box adapter that has been converted to a K&N style filter.
There is absolutely NO advantage to that...
I'd eather run the stock air box (advised for offroad) or the Red line filter kit and lose the adapter.....

I read it was a webber copy and that both are hard to keep adjusted...doh. I think someone thought they were building a cold air induction...lol. I have been looking into the my-side type conversion and unless I can find a stock carb in good running order I may go with that.
