Wheel Offset Question
« on: April 02, 2012, 08:20:32 PM »
I looked at some Kia Sprotage wheels at the junk yard last Sat. they are 6 1/2" wide, but have a about a 4 1/2" back spaceing & was looking to see if anyone has used them with 235/75 R15.  I have a 98 Tracker 4dr. W/O a lift for now & would like to know if they will rub with that large if a offset on the wheel??

Ya.... but I don't have a lift right now, so your clearance with a 6" lift really doesn't tell me if they will clear a stock height.   Ooooo & how do you get that 1.6 to turn 33" X 14.5" tires?

before i started building my tracker when it was stock i put 31 on it n they were on stock rims n only touched when i was turned all the way n when i stuffed them all the way in the back so u should b fine with a 235 on it

I'm getting major frame rub with stock wheels, 4 inch BS?, and that size tire. Had the same rub before the lift.

I gotta say I am very skepticle of this, I put 31's with 15x8-4"BS wheels on my Sidekick prior to doing my lift, just to get the tires out of the way, and they hit like a mofo on level terrain and required me to make a 42 point turn when pulling out of the garage to turn around and back in, stuffed there was ZERO turn radius, LOL

Thanks for the info.... I kinda though that back spacing was a little much, have to keep looking for some wheels with perhaps a 3- 3.5 BS
I can buy them new but don't want to pay $70.00+ for a wheel

8" backspace or 8" wide wheel ??? Ive never even heard of a wheel with 8" backspacing and don't know of any truck that would even work on.

Hmm, obviously you don't know where backspacing is measured from.
