is the transmission,t-case,front cv shaft, drive shaft and rear diferential swapable on these without heavy work? i know the front diff is quite diferent and the diff as well due to the links right? i have a 2002 vitara and got another for parts, but i am getting low on parts and got 4-5 trackers and kicks were i got my vitara at, if i can use those parts on my truck it would make me more spare parts and make it better maybe

i know the front diff swap would be nice, specially to get rid of those air lines and stuff, and the rear diff of the older track and kicks looks easier to work on than the 99+ models.i have a set of manual locking hubs witch i am gona use for sure,i have one older junked with a body lift, custom front bumper and rear, but dont know if that would fit on my newer vitara. so far i know the locking hubs and rims fit. other than that not much i can see usable that can be just simply bolt on too

and if people wants to know, ford f-150 and 250 hub holes are too small for the tracker/vitara hubs, it needs cutting to fit. wonder if cj's,some millitary and older dodge would directly bolt on?

You can grab the spindles from the sidekick and put them on your tracker, there are roller bearings on the inside of the spindles which seemed to get wrecked easily...

The rear third member swaps in easy. Some people are running sidekick diffs up front too, it requires building a hybrid passenger side cv axle, manual hubs and eliminate shift on the fly...theres a good writeup about it on here somewhere.

As I mentioned in the other post, ford truck rims had the right size cente hole before 1995 (or around there).

Yep both my spindles are off a sidekick.  The bearing nut fits and the spindles appear completely identical.  I will admit the wheelbearing on one side did not install very well because i torqued it properly and yet there is still play ???...but the other side has been good for about a year and they seem to be the exact fit. If youre not sure you could get bearings to fit siekick...wonder if it's a different part#?  reason I went with them was suzuki wanted $150 for a new one...used ones were around $75...and i got these from a pull your own kinda place for 5 bucks a piece with the rollerbearings in great shape ;)

Edit: the spindles came off a Sidekick Sport.

unreal how they changed the mechanical from the 1t and 2nd generation, they really set it up so it cost the owner more money for sure. bearing could be found at a bearing shop to make it fit tight, but they will need the bearing on the old spindle to match it up. i did this with a old dirtbike i had on the rear wheel, i had a 2005 yamaha ttr 230 witch the axle was smaller than the other rim i had for replacement, and i could not use the bigger axle as it was too big for the swing arm, they match me up a bearing to fit and only cost me 4$ + tax for both haha, best buy i ever had on bearings yet !!!

i wonder if the 1 generation steering shaft would fit? i know ours are known to go bad, ive changed mine already since it was loose, the one i got in now has a minor hard spot, i am putting oil in it every week to try to free it up a bit, the junked truck was parked for a wile.

If you're referring to the lower steering column (with the UJs), I don't think they interchange - however - the UJs on the second gen. are replaceable - they are staked in, but they can be pressed out with a vice, and the new ones "re-staked" with a punch.

i dint think they were replacable, no snap rings or lock of sum sort holding them safetly to place. i was told it wasent replacable, the dealership gave me a price of 750$ and aftermarket 380$. i still have my spare one witch i might try to take them out for new ones. did you changed them before?

The UJ you need is an ST1640 - the caps are 16mm diameter, and measured across the caps it'll be 40mm - it's also used on Nissans.

Suzuki doesn't sell the UJs separately so the dealer will tell you that they are not replaceable - the part you need is an ST1640 universal joint - 16mm diameter caps, 40mm from end to end - as I said earlier, they are staked in to the yoke, but they can be pressed out with a vice, and the new ones need to be restaked after you assemble them.

Oh - yes - I have done it myself, the lower joint on my GV was replaced - the upper joint is not as exposed to the elements as the lower one, and doesn't usually give trouble.

The one I used was a Toyo - but you have the dimensions so you can select from whatever's available in your neck of the woods - or check with a Nissan dealer, I understand they're commonly used on Nissans.
