Straight axle conversion
« on: April 06, 2004, 08:09:08 AM »
I have a 94 for tracker/kick. i was wondering if anyone had ever done a stiaght axle swap with 4 link or leaf springs. i found this badass softwaer that does all the calculations and adjusts for vehicle and axle used. i just don't want to spend the $350 plus a monthly fee of $35 that u have to sign a year contract for. i can figure most of the stuff out myself it would be nice to have a back up consultant. oh i plan on running 37-38.8 boggers. i already layed out the install for the325 hourse power 4.3 v6 but i want the axles in first to doudle check all my clearces.PLEASE HELP IF U CAN

No i haven't been here long nor do i have much time to look around (unfortunatly). i love to see other people's creations. however i currently am running 31" swampers on my tracker and 34" mud brutes on my sammi. however i have broke all for of my cvs and am getting tiered of changing them. i have no gear reduction and open  diffs so i am afraid what will happen if i go bigger ,lock it up ,and gear it down and that is with the 1.6 16valve. however i have been informed of alot of good info on this forum. i am also considering the bolt in kit for the 2.0 liter from Trail Tough. i will keep the forum updated if i do get the straight axle in however i would like four link in the front atleast an cil overs for a much better street ride. THIS IS A DAILY DRIVER.

I'm new here but maybe you'd be better off getting like a chevy frame cutting it down and bolting your body on it? :-/ Just a suggestion? I've seen a tracker on one around town?

With thinking like that, maybe you should go to Pirate!
;)
I think that if you just build around what you have with modified Suzuki stuff, including the engine, you would be very happy with the results.
For example, look at Heather's 95 4door that we did a SAS conversion to. I built the frontend and then we fabbed the rest of the suspension. Turned out rather trick.

I know...Pretty boring... FOR NOW...

I wouldn't say we're ALL drooling ;) I think Heather's is pretty cool and all but I'd rather go coils than leafs...When's that Calmini kit coming out!?!

A bunch of us crazy lunatics still run IFS.

I still haven't broken a CV joint, or axle (knock on simulated wood-grained formica)...

EDIT:  But then again, I don't wheel much - just to the mall and stuff.
