Well. I also want a straight axle in front,but I think the mods I saw till now are too difficult for me....I mean ,I read many articles about people installing a straight axle in front but I cant do it,cause I dont know where to find the parts.For example where can I find a straight axle that will match my sidekick? And the rest of the parts to connect it ? and some guidelines ? I think its a bit confusing for me for such a mod,so I ll wait for the Calmini SAS kit.
In the meantime,I m still happy (and safe)  with the Anvil .Soon I will replace the fake spanish CV shafts with Japanese green ones ,and if I break one ,I ll try to do the modification Hagen proposed,with the Ford CV shafts.My only fear,is that if I make stronger CV shafts,maybe a possible damage will go deeper in the differential instead of just breaking  the CV.........

for those whi don't wheel much ifs is perfect. for those of you who see a HEEP go somewhere and hesitate ifs my last however if a HEEP can i can better and faster and easier. so i guess it really dosen't help that all my friends wheel HEEPS and get tiered of helping me fix the problems my right foot causes. i could either amputate the foot or beef my rig. i'm looking towards BEEF even if i have to swallow some ZUKI pride and use a few heep parts.  oh im not just swapping the front axle i'm also doing the rear. DANA 35 with 35 spline axle stubs. i've pulled the measurments off those picks and cut all the tube today. tomartrow i start welding. i love vacation. the axles r off of a 2002 jeep that already had four link front and rear from factory, but holly crap is a lift expinsive for one of these. i going to have to go to the blood bank to get money for the King CoilOvers. so it will be a while until the project is complete.

Just get some fuse hubs... the fuse thinger will break before your CVs/diff does :)

yeah..tell me about it .... ;D

I have warn premium "fused" hubs .Do you really believe the fuse breaks before the CV shaft does????????????
The last time I  broke a CV shaft  the fuse was  in perfect condition.... >:(
And I have an LSD 75% in front and 30x9,5x15....
I think the whole story about those fused hubs is just a joke or maybe it works if you have above 31"s.

I have the Warn Premium Hubs, with the Hub Fuses.

Which piece do you think I'm most likely to break, going over those curbs at the mall, the fuse, or the CV joint?

yes ifs does break alot i cn take it apart and put it back together while sleeping. for the warn fuse huds i run 31x11.5x15 on rocks and broke cvs with no fuse damage however i have broken a fuse, a cv, and striped the teeth off my axle stube all at the same time. in the mud i run 33x13.5x15 and have broken fuses and not cvs. but there is only a 20 difference and 5 day wait for the fuses and the cvs. fuses 5 day wait, cvs $20 difference most parts stores stock the cvs non stck the fuses.

I think that if you just build around what you have with modified Suzuki stuff, including the engine, you would be very happy with the results.
For example, look at Heather's 95 4door that we did a SAS conversion to. I built the frontend and then we fabbed the rest of the suspension. Turned out rather trick.



Its funny that you say that 'you' built it because I think that I was in EVERY picutre WE took of US building it.

EDIT:  But then again, I don't wheel much - just to the mall and stuff.

You says"IFS does break a lot"  That is a blanket statement that doesnt hold water. Im running 35s and wheel pretty hard... Im not breaking.  ::) Chunk is running all stock running gear... including stock cvs on 31s.(With the exception of front and rear lockers + 4to1 case) I can count how many times chunk has broke in the last 5 years on one hand.  If your having a problem with breaking stuff you need to find out when it started happening (whats changed from when you didnt break things) and why. Then upgrade according to your driving. Mabey you like the feel of a straight axle... that would be a good reason so switch... Not because "IFS breaks a lot".  :-/

yup
Our IFS held up great.  Had some ring and pinion problems due to auto hubs and that was the only issue I can think of.
