My Rocker of a Stocker
« on: April 11, 2004, 02:40:41 AM »
Well I finally have been able to take some pics of my Sidekick with my new digital camera.

It's a 2 door 1991 Suzuki Sidekick  JA 4x4, automatic transmission, 8 valve engine.

No mods except for the stock air box K&N Filter.  I run Mobil 1 5W30 motor oil.  BOSCH Premium Wire Set and Platinum Plugs.  Front tires are BFGoodrich Control TA and rear are BFGoodrich Trail Maker II and both are 205/75R/15 size.  I have a 180W Kenwood CD player with 100W Pioneer 4s in the front and 350W Pioneer 6x9s in the back.  It's got about 187500 kms on it.  I bought it in late 1993 when I was 16 years old.  It was either a Sidekick or a Jeep.  I didn't like how the Jeep looked so I decided to go with the Sidekick since it looked more civilized and could fit in my garage better too.  :P  Next major upgrade is the Calmini exhaust system which I should have gotten this month, but I got the digital camera instead.  ::) So May it is.

Here's what I look like:

If you look at the first picture of me, you will see two pictures of Slayer beside my computer monitor to the left.  As for the rest of those bands you mentioned, forget it.  I hate most punk music.  The Misfits are an exception, they were real punk, singing about kicking ass, vampires, aleins, murder, etc.

Nice ride 8) You realize that when you start lifting etc... That clean look will be gone forever ::) Unless you like hours of washing and waxing after every trail ride.

Hey Zukipilot, you know what?  I already do spend hours cleaning and waxing it all time.  It's almost become 2 day events because my girlfriend says I spend more time with the truck then with her...LOL  But yeah, I spent about 5 hours vacuuming, wash and detailing on Friday and was sanding away some rust yesterday and today will paint over the parts I have cleaned up.  ;D

I would love nothing more then to lift it and put killer tires on it, but alas it's to expensive and I also have to drive my old man around sometimes and there is no way he could get into it if I lifted it.  :-[

Very clean ride there I_F, especially for the great rusty north. What's your opinion of the K&N Oil Filter?

It looks like you do. I use to get accused of pampering my vehicle more than I did my girlfriend :o Now she's gone and my ride is still hanging in there ;D My addiction of vehicles started with detailing my low rider mini trucks and quickly switched to modifying my 4x4's when the Zuki bug bit me. Give it time and you'll gradually make it exactly what you want. I've been building on my 89 Kick since I bought it in 1994, and I'm starting to think I'll never be satisfyed.

Thanks TN.  ;D

About the filter, to be honest, I can't really tell the difference, but it has to be doing much better then the Frams I used to buy.  Ever since I read that oil filter test on the web, I won't stand for anything less.  They're really expensive, but my ride is worth it.  As soon as I get my new exhaust pipe, I'll probably be able to tell sound wise if it reduced engine knock.

Women just don't understand men and their cars.  It's like women and their shoes.  ;D LOL...

Anyhow, I bought this camera off of Ebay from a seller here in Toronto, called S2STrading.  It's a Kodak 4.0 Megapixel and came with a 16 Megabit memory card.  You can reduce the mega pixel count to take more picture but at reduced quality.  The human eye can really tell the difference anyhow especially for small pics like I have posted here.  High megapixel count is good if you plan on making huge posters or something like that.

Anyhow, it's a Kodak EasyShare DX4900.  It's a 2001 model and was originally bought at a Circuit City in Delaware.  How it ended up in Toronto beats me.

Here's a pic:

Agreed, I'm not a big Fram fan either. Here's a good forum for all things oil related:

In_flames.........you're killing me again!

WHere did you get that hard top for your rig? There are some guys on my group that were looking for one and yours looks killer.

BTW.....would you be willing to send me some coffee?

One other note, Napa/WIX filters are tops too.  Its all I use.
THe only thing I would use a Scam filter for is Ferds, CHebbies, or heeps.

The Zuke is on its way out.  Getting a vehicle that will behave and be supported by the dealer.

The hard top came with it when I bought it.  The previous owner bought it.  I never got the soft top.  I have no idea where to get the hardtop... I have a feeling that they might have been an option with Suzuki & Chevy dealers back in the day.  Also, it was made in Canada...but I have no idea who made it and if they still exsist.  I can try and find out though.  CALMINI sells their own hard top on their site.

I can send you some coffee samples, but I have to make sure it's legal to do so.
