ok tried it again...what i did was hold a tinny bit of throttle then put it into reverse and the car did move backwards..but now it wont start like the batt is dead again

my moms car has had a TON of corrosion on the pos end of the batt..i have been told that is a grounding problem..so could this be a grounding problem??

the check engine light came on the first time..but will not come back on

could it be bad gas??

sry guys im just freaking out..becuase this is my faimlys luck just as i get a job a car dies...

Clean the terminals really good with a wire brush and a little baking soda in water. Dry and rehook the cables, positive first.

After your hooked up again, Turn the key ON but DON'T start it.
Smoothly push the accelerator pedal to the floor and let it up just as steady.
Now start the truck and it should idle and drive fine.

cars fixed :( was the battery terminal...the way the idiot hooked it up when my rents took it for new batt he just clipped the old stock one off but left the very end of it on to make his job easier by not having to strip any wires...my dad came home cut that off charged the batt and it runs fine

i just didnt think it was the batt because i thought once the car was running it didnt need the batt..u live u learn i guess sigh lol

i have new terminals on order from a car audio place..much much nicer terminals

thanks for the help though =) u have been really really patient with me lately i appriciate it =)

Be very careful when playing with the Battery
terminals on a running car, if one pops off it
could over volt some of the electronic ignition
or worse and ruin it.  been there, done that on
a friends Toyota, ya I know it was a Toyota but
still, you don't want that problem.

its cool i figured not alot of people were gunna know just what was wrong..once i thought level headidly(word?) it seemed right that the batt was the problem

i just couldnt wrap my head around the car running but the batt making it stal..since my batt blew in my car and i drover over 2hrs home on the alt lol (good ole 8v tank =))

and yah my dad warned me about poping the terminals off..so i wont be doing that anymore =). i swear to god if that car has one more battery problem its becoming a trail rig and my rents are getting something else  ;D
