gears
« on: July 25, 2012, 03:32:03 PM »
Can someone help me understand the gear process when i run larger tires?  I have 5:12 stock gears. i am running 33 inch tires.  My question is, which way do i have to go in gears to get closer to the factory?  Feeling a bit dumb here for asking.  Thanks

they are kinda hard to find and spendy   if you do find them, there are some for sale on this site but they come from a 1989 4 door with an eight valve 1.6 I think, if you go lower to like a 5.89 you will have to go to a ford nine in the rear or some kind of a dana, I think calmini still has the front ring and pinions.

Calmini USED to sell 5.83's  They work GREAT for 33's.  I had them on the Gnewt.

There are few options for a tracker/sidekick without swapping axles front and rear to Toys or dana units, would be to install an undertaker and run the much stronger 4.30 R&P's or go with a sammi TC with 6.5 gears.

There may be 5.71 R&P's available in the future, but when is the real question.........
