Warn locking hub question?
« on: July 28, 2012, 03:16:56 PM »
Bought a set of older Warn 14641 hubs from a member on here.  They are an older version of their Standard model hub.  Came off of a Sidekick and when they arrived they seemed to work fine.  They were silver and my Tracker is red and matte black so I decided to paint them matte black.  Disassembled them, unscrewed the dial, and POP the spring about shot the body into my face.  Cleaned and painted the bodies and let them dry all week.  Went to reassemble them today and realized I had an issue...or not...but I don't know.  I put them back together the way I remember but when I got them they seemed to be locked "together" and the spring and everything was contained within the hub.

Now I can't seem to get the spring to lock down inside of the hub.  Turning the dial, compressing the body down to my work bench, and anything else I can think of doesn't seem to "catch" anything and keep it together.

What did I screw up?

Did I screw something up or am I just missing something?

Could old grease and them having been installed on that Sidekick forever have kept them sorta "bound up" in the "inside the body" configuration?
