Front Coil Spring Question
« on: September 25, 2012, 09:36:09 PM »
I have the Ranger spring, but I really don't like the way they fit in the top spring perch, has anyone tried the springs from the King 3" shocks.  Checked there web sight out & the springs are closer to the O.D. of stock have the same size opening both top & bottom with ground flat ends like the stock.  They have some 3.75" I.D. about 4 5/8" O.D. X 13" high.. ranger is 5" O.D. X 13"+ or - when you finish cutting w/ 500 rating the Kings go from 100 to 700LBS spring rate.
anyone have any opinion on these???

from there web sight:
The spring rate is a number that represents the amount of force in pounds that it takes to compress the coil 1 inch.
King shocks are available with many coil spring options depending on your application. A single rate spring is a single coil on the shock. As the coil compresses the rate increases at a linear rate. If the spring rate for that coil is 300lbs per inch then compressing that coil one inch generates 300lbs., two inches generates 600lbs., 3 inches equals 900lbs

I have been using a similar coil spring made by Suspension Specialists and formerly sold by FOA. The 550 lb rated coil spring is slightly bigger in OD than say a stocker or Calmini / OME coil and required an adapter ( made by Mudchild here on this forum) to fit the Trackick upper coil mount, But you didn't mention what it's going in. Also, trimming a coil or 2 will not alter the spring rate in any appreciable or noticeable way. I trimmed mine to correct length and the ride quality seems NOT to be affected, if anything it rides better.
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER
