Man, I can not believe the amount of vaccum and electrical crap associated with the stock carb.  In Texas we are pretty relaxed about emmission equipment so I have removed all the vacuum EGR, vapor cannister, and emission stuff.  I am installing the weber conversion with manual choke.  I have two questions:
1.  Should I change the jets before I install the weber kit?  Or do I try it out with the kit jetting first?
2.  What do I do about all the left over carb wiring in the engine compartment?  Will I screw up the electical system if I terminate it at the harness?  There is a ground wire at the thermostat.  Can I terminate that also?

i am still using some of the ecm functions and some of that wiring you refer to, but you don't need it to run with a weber.
i'm not sure about the ground at the thermostat, and the temp sensor wiring is in there somewhere. oil press. wire goes into that wire bunch also on mine.
i have a 32/36. if it's a kit, the jetting will probably be close.
i have the manual choke, and the "top" can be removed to access jets without removing carb.


i'm still using the ecm to run the check engine light- it's mostly looking at the o2 sensor now.

So, did you leave the spagetti or try to remove it?

i'm still using the stock wire loom 'cause i have to smog this thing every two years.
if i didn't have to worry about that, i would remove it.

i have dummy loads plugged into it to replace the signals the carburetor sent to the ecm, so it won't trigger the check engine light.
i'm still making the egr and evap systems work for the same reason.

but i have run this thing without the ecm, egr, or evap.

I just put a weber on my Samurai.  I removed EVERYTHING.  So much nicer.  I think the only vacuum line I have is to my distributor and canister.  I live at 8kfeet and had to change jets.  So far I havn't had to mess with it.  I think I picked the right ones the first time!  I left all connecters unplugged and just tight them up out of the way.  So far I havn't had any ecm problems...fingers crossed.

Do I need the vapor canister?  I removed mine and plugged the line to the tank.  Now I have the distributor vacuum advance and the valve cover hose to the PVC and air cleaner.  Like you I separated all the extra electrical stuff, taped it up, and tucked it out of sight.  The engine compartment looks so much better.

Don't quote me on whether you need it or not.  It all boils down to emissions.  As long as you don't have a vacuum leak off the carb, I'd say plugging off the canister will not hurt anything...my opinion
