4-door diff gears?
« on: March 29, 2004, 05:03:14 PM »
I'm going to go grab another 3rd member at a wreckers this week and I want to know if the 4 door sidekicks have the same gears as the 2 doors?

Does the 4 door manual have 5.13's ?

Yes, and if you can score the brakes do that swap too
it's the best $40 I spent in a long time.

There are some rare 1.3L kicks with 5.38 gears but if
it's a normal 1.6 8V or 16V the gears are the same.

Ya those 5.38 Kicks are real hard to come by.

Thanks for the info though.

I think I saw a manual 4-door at the wreckers today, just gotta make sure it was a manual then I'll snag the diff.

could you get the 5.38s at a zook dealership?  or would it just be cheaper to get 5.83s form calmini. ;D

If it helps any I pulled my 5.12's from 2 automatic 4-door trackers. My guess is the auto 4doors all came with these lower gears.
locked,5.8:1 Tcase, 5.12's, 35x12.5Xterrain's, 4" BDS L/O, Ford towers, 5-8" shackles w/reverse, tracbar, Yota P/S, diffs capped, skidplates, onboard air, fabbed bumpers & shafts, Herculined, airhorns

Interesting...

I didnt grab the one at the wreckers today because it was an auto, but if what you say is true then perhaps i'll go grab it tomorrow.

Can anyone confirm this?  Do all 4-doors come with 5.12's ?  ???

the 4dr. auto's came with 5.12's  when the auto tranny

was the overdrive version .

mine came with 5.12's. 97 4dr auto with overdrive . just check the shifter handle
for the extra button that turn's the overdrive on or off .

with the 5.12 gears.

Warning:  I THINK, that a 4-door, with an 8-valve and an automatic MAY have the higher gearing (4.something?)

Darn, my memory is slipping, and I'm too lazy to look it up this morning.  All my 4-doors (a 91, a 92, and 2 95's) had manual trannies, so I'm not speaking from personal experience.  I would SWEAR that my 92 had a 12 valve engine, but I'll never be able to prove it.
