Help! t-case stuck in neutral
« on: March 25, 2004, 08:54:33 AM »
I had my sami t-case in  neutral to tow it home from paint shop and when I went to ingage it back into 2H, I pulled the handle back into 4H before moving it left to push forward into 2H, but when I pulled back, it moved a little to the left and felt like it popped out of it's notch in the shift rail. now it just moves side to side and I am stuck in neutral. anybody know any tricks or do I have to remove the shifter and align the shift rods with a screwdriver?

TIA

The spring pushing the leverball down is stronger than you think. The problem in the sheets gone and the lever is probably jammed to the bottom of the t-case. Best thing to do is pull the lever out. I never was able to get it in with a screwdriver, but I just used the shift lever after removing everything.

Matt- been there, done that
Weber, CJs in rear, antique Dessert Steel shackles, ruf, homemade ML-style shackles in front, all me-fabbed-no kits, still spua---------- Yeah, I can be really dangerous when I get to thinkin'!

I think all Sami owners have this problem.  :-/ The old shifter sheet is probably gone. My Sami was in the shop for the lift and was stuck in neutral. A quick call to Petroworks and a day or two later it was here. We pulled the shifter out and there must have been 30 chunks of plastic in there :P Install takes all of 20 minutes. Easy to follow instructions. No problems.
