OK.. some more pics of it going together.... we managed to get the whole assembly "in" the truck last night, we found out we had to cut the floor for the sammy tcase to fit..   So it was slow going trying to maneuver the whole unit in and out of the truck a few times to get it situated right. Will be working on it some more tonight.








Had to bend the stock sammy 4x4 shifter back because of clearance issues with the sidekick manual transmission. It wouldn't clear in reverse and 2hi:

Mabey I wasnt fully paying attention but I didnt realize that we are doing something very simmalar as far as T cases go. Im installing a SpiderTrax Thorax and a Calmini 5.14 to 1 in a Sami case behind it. Same thing only different. It will be neat to see the two side by side.

Gearing selection and such will be identical.  The nice thing I'm preceiving about the OTT set up is everything is married together, hopefully translating to less driveline wind-up.  The more "links" made via ujoints, rubber mounts and such.

I like the Kicker 2 option for a LWB Kick or GV ( ).  This marries the Toyota t-case to the kick low-range.  The t-case is stronger than either the Kick or Sammy t-case, but it's also bigger and gears do cost more.  But the Toy case has fixed flanges (a big plus) and a correctly centered rear output translating to better driveshaft harmonics.

This also leaves you perfect for Toyota SAS conversion, as the driveshafts will only need to be lengthened or shortened, but are otherwise a bolt-in.

Hmmmmmm.

Well, if it were my Samurai, then yes, ultra purist while still trying to be hardcore.  Is there such a thing?  Nope, mark my word, my Sammy will remain "Pure Suzuki".

But my GV ain't that.  The purist bug bit me and left on the GV quite a while ago.  Too many broken parts, and it just ain't got the heart my Sammy has.  So yes, maybe someday, when the payments end (2005) I would consider the above mentioned mods.  I think a GV on 35's would be pretty tit.

Would I consider this mod?  Well, I did just buy a 1984 Toy truck, well, because it was only $200 complete (with a 3" body lift to boot).  You know, just in case.

The real reason I bought the GV in the first place was to guarantee a suitable H25 donor for my Sammy.

Let's talk nomenclature for a minute. I've seen the V6 engines described as H25 for the 2.5 liter and H27 for the 2.7 liter on this and other forums. Is this correct? The wiring manual Stu, 95XL7, loaned me for the 2001 2.7 liter XL.7 says JA627. So, does anyone know whether the H is correct or the JA?

That's Odd.  My SQ625 FSM (That's what THEY call the GV) oh, wait...  That's what they call the VEHICLE, not the motor.  SQ is the GV, with a 625...  So I'd guess a Vitara would be an SQ420?  JA would be the frame/body designator for the XL-7...

Strickly motor designations.  The XL7's motor is the H27.

Anyone know what the #s are for the 1.8 and 2.0 I-4 motors.  What about the 2.0 V6?

Yes, you are correct.  I;'ve seen a British FSM on ebay, and it had the designations on SQ416, SQ420, SQ625 and JA627.

Why they change to JS for the XL is beyond me.  Unless that leaves them room to evetually bump the GV up to the H27 motor when the XL7 gets the H30.
